New Blog?

I'm thinking of starting a new blog, or at the very least, changing the address of this one to something more catchy than trjonesfamily. The reasons for this are many, but a major one is that I'm trying to break into the publishing world more and more. Part of that process is 'building my brand' and having a more professional or interesting name is one aspect of it.

So...a question...

Would I be better off using my name or something else?

www.rachelpiehjones.com

OR

www.djiboutijones.com

Maybe I won't use either, maybe I won't start a new blog, but I'm interested in your input.

I like djiboutijones. It's catchy, but whatever you call it, it will be great!

Well, Rachel Held Evans uses her name, and it is currently my favorite (until yours starts up). But Rachel has build up quite a readership over the past couple of years. Of course, TSK (Tall Skinny Kiwi) has a different approach, and it works. Good content plus distinct, memorable name. I can see it working for you with your name. But so could Blond African Runner!

DjiboutiJones. Brings to mind Indiana Jones and adventure. :) With a twist.

I think you should use your name because it would let you write about different things. If you stuck with djiboutijones.com it kind of ties you into Djibouti things and you never know what the future might holds

Like pastor Mark said, Rachel Held Evans uses her name and she blogs about a lot of different things. Plus its just easier to to remember someone's name as a website. Also RHE is my favorite blog too! but I'll read your blog no matter what you call it but a friend of mine who works in tech stuff told me its better to come up with sort of an all purpose website name unless you are going to specifically focus on one thing.

stay warm

I've thought DjiboutiJones was quite catchy, myself. It does tie you to Djibouti... but it sounds like that's your long-term plan anyway.

Plus you can always change domains since you contract for 1-2 years so there's nothing REALLY long-term!
